Early toners were developed in order to remove residue left over on the skin after using certain soaps and hard water. They helped to balance pH levels on the skin as well. But even though they could be helpful, there were made with high alcohol concentration, making them effective, but harsh and drying!
These days, we have many options, including cleansers, that can help balance your pH, and we're not using such harsh soaps and water on our skin either. So, are toners still necessary? Maybe not necessary, but still helpful, yes!
