The History of Rosemary Oil
Rosemary is an herb that is native to the Mediterranean. Its name comes from the Latin words for "dew of the sea" and it belongs to the family of herbs that includes Basil, Sage, and Lavender. Rosemary essential oil is distilled with steam extraction from the flowers of the plant and has been used for thousands of years for multiple purposes. (Its needle-like leaves have been used in cooking for years as well!)
Benefits of Rosemary Oil
Rosemary Oil has many benefits, for every part of your body! When used topically (always be sure it's diluted!) it has antimicrobial properties that can help treat skin problems like acne and eczema. It's also a natural astringent and can help shrink large pores and reduce fine lines. It has anti-inflammatory properties, and can be used to help relieve aches and pains. One more benefit? It has been shown to lower the levels of the stress hormone cortisol in your blood! What a win!
Other Benefits
Rosemary Oil has also been used as a bug repellant, and to increase circulation. It's also wonderful to use on your scalp and hair to stimulate hair growth! Ancient civilizations also used Rosemary Oil to help increase their memory - it's worth a try! ;)
