New Year, New You, right? And while we believe that you can create new habits, routines, and goals any time of the year, we also know that sometimes the beginning of the year is a great time to start on that new habit or routine you've been wanting to try! We thought we'd do a little series of blog posts all about habits, routines, and rituals, so you can start 2022 off on the right foot. And today we'll focus on defining what exactly those three things are and how they differ from one another, so we're ready to make the change we want!
What Is A Habit?
Simply put, a habit is a behavior that you do on a regular basis. These behaviors are ones you've repeated so often, that sometimes you end up doing those things without even thinking about it. An example is brushing your teeth. We're guessing for most of us, we've brushed our teeth morning and night for so long, that it's something we don't even think about needing to do, we just end up over the sink, brushing our teeth.

What Is A Routine?
Routines are usually a collection of habits you do on a regular basis to bring order to your day. For example, maybe as soon as you get to work you check your voicemail, return calls, then check your email - all in the same order, every day. Building routines into your day can help you feel more in control and increase your productivity.

What Is A Ritual?
Rituals are similar to routines, but they generally have a different intention or attitude behind them. Instead of using them to increase productivity, they help us to connect and gain clarity and peace. Turning some of your routines into rituals can help bring added perspective and joy to your life.
Creating new habits, routines, and rituals is a great way to take control of your life, one step at a time, and to focus on making your life work for you, instead of feeling like a slave to the mundane. We are excited to take this journey with you as we share more about how to create successful habits and routines, and make changes to become our best selves!
