As we head into the holiday season, we are starting to plan family gatherings (as safely as possible!). and it might have been a while since we've planned one! Today we'll talk about a few ways to prep and plan for family and group gatherings, so you can feel a little more prepared as we go into this busy season.
Decorate
Decorations can bring such a fun mood into the home. And they don't have to be elaborate or expensive! Simply placing a few pumpkins on the mantle or table brings a spirit of fall inside. Putting up your Christmas tree is always a sure way to make your home feel cozy. Even swapping out an existing piece of artwork for a seasonal one makes all the difference. Whether you like to go big, or you like to stay simple, decorations will change the feel of your home and make all who enter feel welcome.
Plan The Food
What is a family gathering without food, right? But it often can feel overwhelming, especially if it's a larger group gathering. If you're hosting, feel free to delegate and ask others to help bring meal items. It's also a fun idea to incorporate family recipes as you see fit and are able. If it's not a whole meal, just grab some favorite snacks (you can still ask family members to help!) and just enjoy munching on some snacks and being together.
Plan Activities
Families are all different. Some enjoy just sitting around and chatting, others like to have activities planned and be kept busy. Depending on your family needs and how long you'll be together, it might be a good idea to keep an activity idea or two in your back pocket. Something as simple as coloring pages for the children, or having a board game or two out and ready to set up a minute's notice, having activities available can help create family memories that will last a lifetime.
