Mornings can be, well, a hassle. Sometimes it can be hard to get up, get going, and make all the little decisions that come with starting your day. That's why having a solid routine in place (one that works for you!) makes the start of your day go so much better and smoother. Below are a few tips and ideas about how to build a routine and what to include in it, so you'll be ready to handle whatever it is the day throws your way.
Start Your Morning The Night Before
Let's be honest, sometimes the hardest part of getting out of bed in the morning is knowing that you're going to have to start using your brain immediately by making decisions. That's why it's a smart idea to start your morning the night before. Lay out your clothes for the next day, make your lunch and/or breakfast, pack your bag and leave it by the door... By doing these small tasks before you go to bed, you'll be able to get up and start your day on the right foot, and not have to waste time looking for that sock or paper.

Fuel and Move Your Body
Before you reach for your morning cup of caffeine, try drinking a glass of water first. Hydrating your body is essential in the morning (and throughout the day) and giving your body water first thing in the morning will help you both physically and mentally! And while you're drinking your water, don't forget to eat a healthy breakfast, as well! It doesn't have to be anything big, but giving your body that fuel to start your day is crucial. Moving your body will also help you start the day off right. You don't have to go to a gym class to do so, just a few gentle stretches will start your blood flowing and wake you up.

Create A List Of Tasks
And do the hardest one first! By getting the hardest or most dreaded task out of the way first thing, you'll be freeing up so much mental energy, not to mention you'll feel great for completing that task. Whether it's work related or home related, it doesn't matter, just do it! After that, you can work down the rest of your to do list as you go about your day.
One more extra tip? Don't look at your phone first thing! When you wake up you're generally in a calm state, so don't start your day off by stressing about an email or notification! Postpone the phone activity just a bit. By doing that and creating some other habits in the morning, your morning routine will be set, and you'll be off to a great start and can tackle your day head on.
