The switch from winter to summer weather can often lead to a change in how your skin feels and the care needed for it. Heat and humidity during the summer leads to excess oil, sweat, and clogged pores, and the sun's rays can cause skin damage and dryness. So what can you do to take care of your skin during the summer? Read on for a few ideas!
SPF, SPF, SPF!
Before you leave your house every morning do you put on a product with SPF? If not, you should be! And while using some sort of SPF daily year round is a great practice to get into, putting it on daily during the summer is so important! SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor and measures how well a sunscreen will protect skin from UVB rays. UVB rays are the kind of radiation that can cause sunburn, damages skin, and can contribute to skin cancer. Even if your skin doesn't burn easily, UVB rays will still damage your skin, so it's important for EVERYONE to use sunscreen or another product with at least an SPF 15.

Cleanse Well
As the weather gets hotter and more humid, your skin's sebaceous glands start producing excess oil. Oils on the skin then mix with sweat can cause more clogged pores than usual. Using a face wash suited to your skin type daily will help remove that oil, sweat, and grime, helping to reduce breakouts.

Moisturize
Be sure to moisturize and hydrate your skin well during the summer as the sun's rays can dry out your skin. A moisturizer will help protect and hydrate your skin, and if you can choose one with SPF, that's even better! You can also use a face mask as needed to give your skin a little extra boost of moisture. And don't forget to protect your lips, too! Using a chapstick with SPF will help protect the delicate skin on your lips.
The change from winter to summer weather can change your skin and how you need to care for it. By making sure you are using a product with SPF daily, and making sure to cleanse well and keep your skin hydrated, you can reduce breakouts and skin damage, leaving you with happy and healthy skin.
